Tracking The Tablet

Tablet patent

With Apple expected to announce its new tablet tomorrow, rumors are running rampant.  Mashable has rounded up two great visualizations of its design and functionality.  Essentially, the so-called Slate (or iSlate, who knows?) will let us play with multitouch, and it’ll look good doing it.

As much as we all like pretty things, the real draw is going to be what the tablet can actually do.  The New York Times has reported that the tablet is expected to run iPhone apps.  Apparently, app tracking and mobile analytics companies are picking up a high number of apps around Cupertino, CA running on unknown device types.  Ones in heavy usage include news readers (will it be a Kindle killer?), multiplayer games, and practical thingamabobs like restaurant finders.

Anyway, like most everything Apple comes up with, this tablet will probably be pretty darn cool and a game changer to boot.  Steve Jobs, I want my new toy.  Please make my birthday come early and announce this thing already!
