Triumph kills it with the Falcon Bullet Motorcycle. This minimal machine is a steel masterpiece. Santa, if you’re listening…

Haiti isn’t “all better” now

without comments

HelpHaiti

The benefit we held for Haiti was a gratifying example of an agency, and more importantly, its people pitching in and giving back. We raised $5k for Voice of Haiti in a single evening (you can always donate more at any time).

It’s been a month since the earthquake and Haiti is no longer the lead story, or often, any story on the news right now. Maybe Angelina Jolie will adopt 75,000 or so kids and grab our collective attention again, but until then, we plan to be part of a continuing effort to help.

The majority of Haitians are still suffering from medical, food and shelter shortages. There are no jobs. Government offices and many businesses no longer exist. For most, the only activity is lining up at dawn hoping to get a sack of rice.

Getting Carded

without comments

New business cards dropped yesterday, and everyone’s been running around the office playing, “I’ll show you mine if you show me yours.” From what I’ve seen so far these are my personal favs. Does it have anything to do with the fact I wrote several of these? Let’s just say it doesn’t not have anything to do with that.

QUENTIN TARANTINO
TRIBUTE POSTERS

Its pretty difficult to improve Tarantino’s poster design. Is it even possible? Okay maybe not, but these limited edition tribute posters by Ibraheem Youssef are damn close. Pure poetic graphic design.

pepsi

In other Super Bowl commercial news – noticeably absent this year was Pepsi Cola who decided to skip the big game for the first time in 23 years, and instead opted to debut their latest ad last week during the season premier of Lost. The concept for the commercial is pretty cool, but I liked it a lot better when Japanese band Sour did it as the video for their song ‘Hibi no Neiro’?

It’s a cool idea so I get why they’d rip it off, but it’s a shame that with a budget that was likely ten times as big, Pepsi couldn’t figure out more clever ways to reproduce it.

Geese and Ice Plot World Domination

with one comment

fortress-of-solitude-superman

If I were ice I think my ultimate goal would be to be part of the Fortress of Solitude. I can’t think of a more noble existence for frozen water. Or maybe being used in a Slurpee, or an ice block at a frat party? Those are also good things for ice to aspire to.

But some ice is far more diabolical.

Check this timelapse from the salvage of US Airways Flight 1549 that plopped into the Hudson last year after hitting some geese. I’m no climatologist, but it seems pretty obvious that ice hates the Airbus A320. It does tend to be a little cramped in coach but still…
