Masked Avenger or Frightening Fan?

85,000 + fans were on hand to witness the battle between Mexico vs. Ecuador in the first pro event ever at the new Giants stadium in the Meadowlands, NJ.  The match ended in an anticlimactic nil–nil tie, but the size of the crowd for a game that meant little to either team’s fortunes is interesting. Also interesting is that the US national team couldn’t draw half that crowd for a friendly.

Some not so die-hard futbol fanatics in attendance were a bit disappointed at the lack of goal scoring, tie breaking shoot outs and Zinedine Zidane head-butts. On the bright side we’ll all get our far share of the previously mentioned antics starting on June 11. US team’s first game is England, June 12th. Goooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooaaaaaallll.
