remember when?
every now and again you stumble on something so insightful, it must be shared. Enter jayday.org, a blog site built for and maintained by current and former employees of the ad agency Chiat Day. its entries are filled with the reasons why I went to art school to study advertising. one entry i would like to share is from Steve Beaumont, and one caption in particular with regards to jay Chiat. http://www.jayday.org/2008/11/steve_beaumont_1.html ”In those days, Jay was in New York and we knew he was coming when memos went out telling us to clean our cubicles. At one of our creative meetings he told us “I want you hear this from me: We are going to lose every piece of business we have. It’s the nature of advertising. If we let the work suffer for any reason – and it’s bad – we’ll never be able to show it in a new business meeting later to replace lost business. So don’t let anyone including clients f____ it up”
We here @ MKTG have a responsibility, Sysyphisian as it may seem, to not allow for our work to suffer.
…so say we all…
