Stephen Wiltshire
Artist, Autistic, Genius.

Stephen Wiltshire is an artist with autism who draws extremely lifelike, accurate and detailed cityscapes completely from memory, sometimes after having only a brief look. Last year he made an 18 foot long drawing of the entire New York skyline after he spent just 20 minutes in a helicopter overhead.
He’s also made panorama’s of Rome, Tokyo, Dubai, London, and a bunch of other major cities around the world. Stephen was born mute, learning to speak around the age of 9, mostly encouraged by having his artist materials taken away so he would have to ask for them. Have a look at the links for more info on this incredible man.
SIGNS OF THE TIME?

Art Basel in Miami is arguably the most important art show in the states, but in the past couple of years it began to transform into a red carpet, who’s who, seen and be seen, reflection of its former self. Art will always find a canvas so I have faith that Basel won’t get totally swallowed like the fashion world’s Magic Show in Las Vegas.
One of the cool things from 2009’s Basel is Trustocorp. Their signs started by popping up in New York’s financial district and has been recently seen in Detroit and the Dumbo neighborhood in Brooklyn.
Pay attention to the signs in your city, maybe Trustocorp’s winged T logo has been there.
Ghost Stories: New Designs from Nendo
Museum of Arts and Design Collection Database.
“Ghost Stories: New Designs from Nendo transforms the MADProjects Gallery on the Museum’s second floor into a magical landscape of new designs that imbue chairs, vases, and lamps with whimsy and optical illusion. Founded and led by Canadian-born principal Oki Sato, Nendo has garnered international attention and more than 45 design awards for its beautifully simple yet surprisingly humorous work in interiors, furniture, product design, graphics, and architecture.” This collection is based on surprise and illusion, as many of the pieces appear to float, disappear or diffuse.

“Cash for your Warhol”
Coming to NYC this weekend is an exhibition that includes my pal Geoff “Cash for your Warhol” Hargadon. Inspired by the “Cash for Your House” signs seen in neighborhoods hit by the recession, Geoff had the same Texas company that produces the “Cash for Your House” signs create “Cash for Your Warhol” signs and posted them around Boston and NYC. NOTE: The inset photo, taken by Brandeis University’s Rose Art Museum, hits close to home as the president of Brandeis announced last January that the school would dissolve the museum and sell off its collection.
The service is explained in more detail at the website: http://www.cashforyourwarhol.com/

Featured in a show that opens 11.5 at Elizabeth Art Space, NY, NY
I’ll take a foot, please.

Bread has long been an art form but this takes it one teensy bit further.
