Our Office

The New York Egotist was kind enough to post a short piece about our New York office and all the cool things inside of it. We’re talking large blocks of inspirational text (see above), video game stations, and a fully stocked in-house bar. Like W.C. Fields said, “There are only two real ways to get ahead – sell liquor or drink it.” At MKTG INC, we do both. Occasionally at the same time.

To see more photos of our workplace digs, head over here.

Chrome 640

Flight delayed? Good. If you’re taking to the skies on Virgin Atlantic, it’ll give you more time to play around with Google’s new Chromebook. Event Marketer did a nice write up of the program MKTG developed with Google to drive awareness of its soon-to-launch laptop. Lucky airline passengers and guests of New York’s Ace Hotel can get their hands on these sleek PCs from now until the end of September.

The Art of Adobe

Photoshop & Cool

Photoshop & Cool

Smile, we’re on camera! Event Marketer this week took special note of the Photoshop & You pop-up space that MKTG produced for Adobe in San Francisco earlier this month. The experience, located in the former HANG art gallery, celebrated the art of photography through antique-camera collections, how-to sessions and workshops, and neighborhood photo walks.

Art Basel in Miami is arguably the most important art show in the states, but in the past couple of years it began to transform into a red carpet, who’s who, seen and be seen, reflection of its former self. Art will always find a canvas so I have faith that Basel won’t get totally swallowed like the fashion world’s Magic Show in Las Vegas.

One of the cool things from 2009’s Basel is Trustocorp. Their signs started by popping up in New York’s financial district and has been recently seen in Detroit and the Dumbo neighborhood in Brooklyn.

Pay attention to the signs in your city, maybe Trustocorp’s winged T logo has been there.

I.D. Magazine is no more

I_D__Nov09_Cover

Here’s an excerpt from a letter from Jesse Ashlock’s blog (I.D.’s current editor).

“Lately, the i word I’d been thinking about most with regard to I.D. was “individual.” Whatever has changed over the years, I.D. has always been a one-of-a-kind platform for exploring the personalities and processes of individual designers, the needs and desires of the individual human beings designers serve, and the ways in which the common language and logic of design can bring disparate individuals together. In an era of “design thinking” and “human-centered design,” the loss of such a platform leaves a real void. As a contributor remarked to me over the weekend, there are certain stories that just aren’t going to be told anymore. I.D. wasn’t a redundant title in a crowded vertical market, it was truly unique, and though we can blog and tumbl and tweet ourselves silly, I think we all know what’s being lost.”

The Kraken Rum: The Bottle

A gorgeous spiced rum concept – gloriously executed. Quaint, if a little old ‘flashioned’ website where you can get a natty squid wall poster. Haven’t yet sampled the rum itself, but what a lovely example of a well executed product concept.
