Feeding the obsession (ooh, kitchens..)

without comments

lonny

Living in New York City, I am a victim of that common (yet utterly unrealistic) affliction, real estate obsession–I’m talking checking-the-listings-and-dreaming-of-countertops-while-eating-my-morning-oatmeal far gone.  Unsurprisingly, then, I was totally heartbroken when Domino magazine shuttered.

Over the past few months, though, a few former Domino-ites have attempted to fill the void by launching an online magazine called Lonny.  Happily, they’ve managed to recapture that eclectic, aspirational-yet-doable vibe that no still-standing shelter mag manages to pull off.  Admittedly, I usually prefer to read on paper myself, but this thing’s pretty cool.  You can click literally every picture to link to sites for purchase (more dreaming), and they’ve savvily promoted the e-mag on Twitter and Facebook (go, social media!).   Check out their newest issue, and prepare to drool.

P.S.  I made a fun discovery while paging through the latest edition.  Turns out that my former classmate/subsequent former coworker, Elizabeth Suda, is featured for her line of cool, natural accessories, Article 22/Article 22 Trading Co. After living in Laos, she set up a partnership with the local women who produce these beautiful textiles,  so her line is cool, helps sustain traditional crafts, and supports the women who make them all at the same time.  Read about Liz and her line on page 27 of the magazine.
