4As Featured Talk with Bibi Persaud at their HQ

with one comment

MKTG’s very own super strategist Bibi Persaud was invited by the 4As (American Association of Advertising Agencies) to be the featured guest at their new 4A’s Culture Club Breakfast series – morning motivational conversations that are intimate and casual and meant to spark conversation.

In conjunction with Women’s Equality Day, as a female leader, the 4As invited Bibi to share her personal journey and reflect on the lessons she’s learned throughout her career journey.

Bibi talked about what it means to be a multicultural female in the industry – and in the world –  in a candid and real way, yet, filled with inspiration and rich dialogue. She also talked about how her daughters are teaching her about the world they’d like to grow up in.

Bibi happily reported that the conversation was honest and engaging and was very well-received – a provocative conversation that left everyone inspired to start their day. The audience was comprised of mostly women across the organization and it was wonderful to see men join this incredibly active conversation.

Many thanks to the 4As for inviting Bibi to help lead this important conversation! Bibi rocks.

West Coasters Attend Conference For Women

without comments

by Alyse Courtines, MKTG Los Angeles

This year is Watermark’s 25th Anniversary, an organization founded in Silicon Valley to increase the representation of women at executive levels.  Their annual Conference for Women attracted over 6,500 to the San Jose Convention Center for a day of impactful content and networking.   A few of us from the West Coast were fortunate to attend and were amazed and inspired.

Keynotes by big names Amal Clooney, Reese Witherspoon and Jodi Kantor (NYT investigative journalist who broke the Harvey Weinstein story) definitely delivered and set the bar for a day of encouragement, education, and discussion about the treatment and parity for women in the workplace.

As experienced conference attendees and executors ourselves, it was hard to look past a few production (audio issues during panels, overcrowded expo) and logistical missteps (lunch was literally frozen resulting in the organization donating $25 to a local charity for each meal), but on the most important aspect, the content, they more than succeeded.

Panels ranged in topic from “Impostor Syndrome” to how technology can advance diversity initiatives to the language of leadership.   There were also book signings, tech roundtables, personal brand promotion workshops and an expo featuring partners like State Farm, Dell, Oculus, Gilead, Tesla and United Airlines.

We left the day filled with information, motivation and the hope that the important conversations around equality will continue past this moment in time.  As Reese Witherspoon asked: “Does anyone feel we’re on the precipice of something very different?”   The response from the crowd was a resounding “yes.”

A Perfect Pairing for PRIDE

without comments

Diageo_Pride

MKTG INC has paired up with Smirnoff and the DIAGEO Rainbow Network to celebrate LGBT Pride Month in the Northeast with Pride Parade Floats, Festivals, and Events taking place throughout the month of June in Washington D.C., Philadelphia and New York. The activation theme for 2013 celebrates the progress and ongoing campaign towards Marriage Equality – Every Pairing is Perfect.

With three new sorbet inspired vodkas to stimulate the tastebuds, but not the waistline, Smirnoff Sorbet Light was the perfect brand to make a SPLASH at PRIDE with less than 78 calories per cocktail and three great new flavors – Raspberry Pomegranate, Light Mango Passion Fruit and Light Lemon. The Float celebrates this theme by utilizing three 7-foot inflatable bottles and a recreation of an ice cream booth accompanied by staff dressed in attire that both portrays the sorbet server and embraces the Pride Parade energy. This float has already been a booming part of the Capitol Pride parade in Washington D.C. and the Philly Pride parade in Philadelphia. The float will make its final run in the New York Pride Parade on June 30th.

Outside of the parade, Smirnoff Sorbet Light has partnered with the LGBT Community Center and to host The Center Garden Party located on the Hudson River’s Pier 84. Kicking off Pride Week in New York with over 1,500 supporters, the Garden Party will bring “A Taste of Pride” with 40 restaurants offering samples from their delicious menus and will be complimented by a variety of Smirnoff Sorbet Light specialty cocktails, including a special pairing of 16 Handles Mango Tango Sorbet with Smirnoff Sorbet Light Raspberry Pomegranate….yum!

Be sure to make your way to the NY Pride Parade Sunday June 30th while mixing and matching your Smirnoff Sorbet Light (responsibly!) because you cant go wrong – Every Pairing is Perfect!
