MKTG Westport Gives Back to St. Baldrick’s

with one comment

For seven years running, a small group out of the Westport MKTG office have been supporting the St. Baldricks children’s cancer charity, each pledging to shave their heads in return for charitable donations.

Childhood cancers are very different than adult cancers, but less than 4% of the National Cancer Institute’s budget is solely dedicated to childhood cancer research.  That is where St. Bladricks comes in. The foundation funds more in childhood cancer research grants than any organization except the U.S. government. The charity has raised over $39 Million in 2017 alone.

We are very pleased to report that the team of Tom Hendry and Iain McWhirter surpassed their fundraising target of $5K, by raising $7,541 this year, taking the total raised for the charity to over $40K since 2011. Check out their new dos below!

MKTG Westport: Toiletries for Troops Initiative

without comments

All year long the MKTGers of Westport, CT collect toiletries from our business trips, homes, and dollar stores to donate to A Project from the Heart, a local organization in Fairfield, CT that sends packages to our troops overseas. Our troops are always in need of these small items while living away from home. We feel it is important to give back to the troops to say thank you for all they do. Below are letters that A Project from the Heart has received from troops expressing their gratitude for the packages. This definitely makes us smile!

MKTG Riders: Matt Manning, Rein Dijkema, Michelle Berg, Kathryn Rambo, Samantha Hickey. MKTG Volunteers: Erica Calhoun, Danielle Walkerwicz, Kelly Kinas, Dani Kosinski

Over the weekend, a team of riders from MKTG Westport took to their bikes to raise money for cancer survivors of all ages through the organization MISSION (yourmission.org). Through the CT Challenge, the MKTG gearheads raised $2230 to help MISSION send kids to summer camp, aid in college tuition, run confidence-building adventure trips for young adults and supply young cancer survivors visits to Mission’s Training Center. You can learn more about the charity from the video below. Many thanks to our riders, and the numerous MKTG employees who came out to volunteer starting early in the am and extending into the evening celebration!
